Faculty from participating schools serve as mentors to PFF student participants and also participate in panels and discussions on teaching, research, service, and the academic job search.

The original PFF "cluster" consisted of four schools: the University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, Northern Kentucky University, and the College of Mount St. Joseph. Mount St. Joseph is currently not an active participant, since it has discontinued its Computer Science program.
